Band Hyukoh responded to plagiarism accusations.

On July 24, Hyukoh's agency told AsiaToday, "First, it is unfortunate that these songs that Hyukoh worked hard to prepare have been embroiled in this kind of controversy."

The agency said, "In the case of 'Lonely,' Hyukoh performed this song as the opening for the leader of The Whitest Boy Alive, Erlend Oye, when he visited Korea back in March. Hyukoh actually received compliment from the party on this song. 'Panda Bear' is a song that Hyukoh has been performing since last year, and was released in January. Taking into consideration that the time of the release of Yumi Zouma's song was in March, the timing is impossible."

The agency added, "Since the public's interest in Hyukoh has grown, we will view this controversy as the public's anticipation to showcase better music, and Hyukoh will prepare and showcase even better music in the future."

Meanwhile, Hyukoh band was accused of plagiarism through various online music communities as their songs "Lonely" and "Panda Bear" were found to be similar to The Whitest Boy Alive's "1517" and Yumi Zouma's "Dodi", respectively.
