LG CNS is joining hands with Japan's leading telecommunications company KDDI to drive AI transformation (AX) and digital transformation (DX) across the Asia-Pacific region.
On the 14th, LG CNS announced that it recently signed a memorandum of understanding with KDDI. The core of the partnership is to combine LG CNS's AX and DX capabilities with KDDI's telecommunications infrastructure and global network strength to jointly uncover new business opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities, telecommunications, and integrated system operation and management services.
Specifically, for AI ventures, the two companies will explore developing tailored agentic AI services for local enterprises to deploy across KDDI's Asia-Pacific operations, powered by LG CNS's agentic AI platform "AgenticWorks."
They are also reviewing collaboration in the field of business automation services utilizing physical AI. Through LG CNS's robot transformation (RX) platform "PhysicalWorks," the company will provide integrated robot management services to clients in manufacturing, logistics, and retail that utilize robots across industrial operations.
In the Southeast Asian smart city sector, the companies will build a business model integrating LG CNS's smart city solutions—such as integrated municipal control systems and intelligent transport systems—and global smart city implementation track record with KDDI's telecom infrastructure technologies and commercial capabilities, aiming to secure an early lead in the rapidly growing local smart city market.
The two companies have formed a working-level consultative body to flesh out new business opportunities, prioritizing Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, and China as primary target markets.
Kentaro Matsuura, Deputy Head of the Business Growth Division at KDDI, said, "The collaboration between KDDI and LG CNS is designed to create a new industrial foundation by converging AI, telecommunications, and data." He added, "We will aim to cooperate with diverse partners across the Asia-Pacific region to establish a digital ecosystem that supports corporate and social infrastructure."
Park Sang-gyun, Senior Vice President and Head of the Telecommunications, Distribution & Services Business Division at LG CNS, stated, "Through this agreement, we expect to generate new business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific market by combining the respective capabilities of both companies." He added, "Together with KDDI, we will deliver tangible achievements in global AX endeavors."
