The film The Assassin(s) is on the verge of surpassing 1.7 million cumulative viewers despite controversy over historical distortion.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie tickets on the 30th, The Assassin(s) had drawn a cumulative total of 1,695,104 viewers as of the previous day. Attracting 61,496 moviegoers on that day alone, it topped the daily box office and edged closer to the 1.7 million mark.

During the same period, Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub drew 56,136 viewers, reaching a cumulative attendance of 958,060.

The Assassin(s) is a story tracking the forces behind the 1974 shooting of First Lady Yuk Young-soo. In this process, the film raises a hypothesis that then-President Park Chung-hee was behind the incident, sparking controversy as politicians and audiences question whether it distorts history.

In the wake of the controversy, related content is being deleted one after another.

On the 29th, the production team of Lee Dong-jin's Piarchia stated regarding The Assassin(s) that because debates surrounding the film continue, they switched the review video uploaded on September 25 to private.

Movie YouTuber G Movie, with 4.17 million subscribers, also set recently released content related to The Assassin(s) to private.

Earlier, the production crew of The Assassin(s) explained regarding the controversy that the film was not made to newly establish a specific historical conclusion, nor to deny or distort established facts.

They added, saying they wish to state that the film was not produced with any specific political agenda beyond its inherent creative intent and nature, and asking that audiences view the work solely as a product of creative endeavor.
