Xi Jinping, President of China, is reported to make a state visit to North Korea on June 8–9 at the invitation of Kim Jong‑un, Chairman of North Korea’s State Affairs Commission, according to Chinese state broadcaster CCTV and North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency on June 5.
This will be Xi’s first trip to Pyongyang in seven years, since September 2019. The two leaders last met in Beijing in September 2024 during China’s 80th Victory Day celebrations, where Kim attended with his daughter Kim Ju‑ae and joined Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin at a military parade.
Since assuming power in December 2011, Kim has visited China five times to meet Xi.
