U.S. President-elect Donald Trump was officially inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States on Monday at noon in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington D.C.
President Trump’s term officially began at 12:00 p.m. Monday. At noon, Trump legally received power from President Joe Biden and began exercising his authority as the Commander-in-Chief of the United States.
From his first day in office, President Trump issued a series of executive orders across various fields, including politics, economics, and society, signaling his “return” to the American people and the world. If the various measures he had announced during his election campaign under the notion of “putting America First" are swiftly implemented, the so-called "Trump Storm" is expected to bring significant changes to the world order.
President Trump is expected to declare a state of emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border and begin large-scale deportations of illegal immigrants and border closures. Additionally, with a general tariff of up to 20% on all imports into the United States and 60% on Chinese goods, significant changes in global trade order are anticipated.
Issues such as defense cost-sharing with allies and territorial and jurisdictional disputes over the Canada-Greenland-Panama Canal could lead to significant conflicts between nations.
Due to dangerously cold temperatures projected in the U.S. capital, the inauguration ceremony was moved indoors, where 600 domestic and international dignitaries watched as President Trump took the oath of office and immediately delivered his inaugural address, presenting a blueprint for his second term in office.
His inaugural address included a vision and specific policy tasks for the next four years of the "Trump 2.0 era," aligned with his campaign slogan "Make America Great Again (MAGA)."
The ceremony was attended by U.S. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton.
Top tech moguls such as Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, Jeff Bezos, founder and chairman of Amazon, and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, were in attendance.
At the inauguration ceremony, country music singer Carrie Underwood performed "America the Beautiful," and opera singer Christopher Macchio sang the U.S. national anthem
