The film “12.12: The Day” has surpassed 12 million admissions in 41 days after its release.

Plus M Entertainment said that the film topped 12 million admissions as of January 1. It claimed the top spot in the overall box office in 2023.

The achievement goes beyond the final number of moviegoers of past films that surpassed the 10 million mark, such as “Train to Busan” (11.56 million viewers), “The Attorney” (11.37 million viewers), and “Haeundae” (11.32 million viewers).

The movie recounts the nine hours of confrontation to prevent South Korea’s military coup that occurred on December 12 in 1979 in capital Seoul, featuring actors Hwang Jung-min, Jung Woo-sung, Lee Sung-min, Park Hae-joon, and Kim Sung-kyun.
