Actress Shim Eun-kyung has become the first South Korean actress to win the best actress award at a Japanese academy award.

On March 6, the actress won the award at the 43rd Japanese academy awards for her acting in the film “The Journalist” (literal title).

Through her management agency ManagementAND, the actress shared, “Thank you for giving me such a great award. Regardless of one’s nationality, every film is created with efforts and challenges of many staffs and production team. In this regard, this film ‘The Journalist’ was made with so many people’s efforts and supports.”

“I will make my best effort so that my acting can be a help in making a film,” she added.

Shim launched her career in Japan in 2017 when she signed a Japanese management agency there.
