A documentary film on late former Korean President Roh Moo-hyun reached its break-even amount within 3 days of its release after a record-high opening day for the genre in the country.

According to the computerized box office tally from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) on Monday, "Our President" drew more than 500,000 viewers on the first weekend of its release (May 26-28), surpassing its break-even point of 200,000 tickets, and maintained its first place among Korean movies at the box office.

"Our President" reminisces the dramatic process of Roh winning the primary of the Millennium Democratic Party, rising from a 2% approval rating to become the party's presidential candidate in 2002. The film reveals the real story of Roh Moo-hyun as a person rather than a politician through interviews 39 followers of Roh.

The film debuted last Thursday with the highest opening day for all documentary films in Korean history, selling 78,397 tickets on the day.
