By Hong Soon-do, Beijing correspondent, AsiaToday - China is likely to show off its latest and most advanced weapons at the military parade in Beijing on September 3 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression as well as the World Anti-Fascist War. Moreover, the recently developed intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) will likely make an appearance at the parade.

According to sources in Beijing on Sunday, such assertion is not an exaggeration considering China's recent territorial disputes against Southeast Asian countries as well as Japan. It seems China feels the need to show off its powerful military power to its neighbors. China even deployed the largest number of aircrafts and helicopters for the rehearsal held in the air of Tongzhou last month, adding to the fact that China is working very hard for the upcoming event.

The high-tech weapons that are expected to be shown include the H-6 new strategic bombers, the J-10 and J-11B fighters, KJ-2000 and KJ-200 airborne early warning and control systems, the J-15, and the Z-9, Z-10, and Z-10 helicopters.

The submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), in which PLA's Secondary Artillery Corps successfully launched several years ago, is likely to make an appearance as well. It could potentially carry 3-6 nuclear warheads with an estimated range at least 9,000 kilometers. Other high-tech military equipment that are expected to make an appearance include the new Type 99A2 Tank, the ZBD-04 infantry fighting vehicle, 35 mm anti-aircraft guns, the PLZ-05 self-propelled howitzer.

However, the most anticipated weapons would be the DF-31B and DF-41 ICBMs. The DF-41 has an estimated range of 14,000-15,000 kilometers with errors less than 120 meters. It is capable to Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicle (MIRV) delivery. It is recognized as a nuclear missile that is powerful enough to neutralize the United States national missile defense system.
