‘The battle of Myeongnyang,’ reaches over ten million total viewers

An actor Choi Min Sik and a director Kim Han Min expressed their impressions on the movie’s reaching over ten million total viewers.  


The director, Kim Han Min who succeeded in two movies in a row, ‘War of Arrows’ and ‘The battle of Myeongnyang,’ delivered the message through the distributor, CJ Entertainment “ I’m very moved and want to express my sincere appreciation to the viewers because I can now feel that many people have watched the movie because they think we need a spirit of the General Lee Sun Sin in our generation.”    


Add to this, “I really want to show my gratitude toward the crew and the casts who have been working so hard and the viewer who love the movie. Thank you and thank you again.”   


The actor, Choi Min Sik who has made the hero Lee Sun Sin reborn addressed “With all of my heart, I would like to say thank you for who sympathized with General Lee and his courage and faith, and the story that he wanted to tell us.”   


An actor Ryu Seung Ryong who played a Japanese General Gurujima with stunning acting stated “Reaching over 10 million was possible due to the people who try to remember the history. It was a sense of duty that I chose this film for. I’m very happy and want to thank all of you.” Jo Jin Woong who played the General Wakijaka to exude charisma said “I’m very thrilled that over 10 million people have watched the film ‘The Battle of Myeungnyang.’ Since the film tries to express respect for the great man and interests over the history, it is very much moving that people have chosen to watch such a film. I would like to express my sincere gratitude toward the viewers.”   


According to the CJ Entertainment, ‘The Battle of Myeungnyang’ has reached over ten million total viewers for within 12 days after its release as the 10th of the Korean film history.  


This replaced the records of ‘Monster’ (22 days after the release) and ‘The Thieves’ (22 days after the release), getting off to 10 days lead. Also, the record is three times as fast as those of ‘Avatar’ (38 days after the release), ‘Miracle in Cell No7’ (32 days), ‘Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King’ (38 days) and ‘The Attorney’ (33 days).   


Meanwhile, the film ‘The Battle of Myeongnyang’ depicts the battle of Myeongnyang, the greatest sea battle which had fought against 330 sea vessels with only 12 sea vessels in 1597 during Japanese invasion of Korea. Starring the greatest actor, Choi Min Sik who gave the rebirth of the General Lee Sun Sin, character actors, including Ryu Seung Ryong, Jo Jin Woong, Kim Myung Gon, Jin Gu, Lee Jung Hyun and more have created synergy to the movie. The film has created sensation with a moving solid story that every audience can sympathize with.
