‘The Battle of Myeongnyang,’ set the record again! 3 millions in 4 days.

‘The Battle of Myeongnyang,’(Produced by  Bigstone Pictures, Distributed by CJ Entertainment) starring Choi Min Sik, has continued to set the new records.   


On the 3rd of August, according to the cinema ticket information system, ‘The Battle of Myeungnyang,’ has gathered 1,228,751 viewers in one day, which is the 2nd of August. This is the highest number of viewers for one day. Previous highest one was set by ‘Transformer 3(2011), which had recorded 956,500 for a day, which makes ‘The Battle of Myeungnyang’ gathered 272,251 more viewers, writing a history of the film in Korea.   


Accumulated numbers of the viewer is 3,505,426 since from its release on the 30th. This is also the new record of reaching 3 million audiences in short times. The film replaced the record that four other movies ‘Gundo(2014),’ ‘Snowpiercer(2013),’ Secretly Greatly (2013), and ‘Transformer 3 (2011) have set, which is reaching 3 million audiences in 5 days after the release.  


 ‘The Battle of Myeongnyang’ also broke its own record. The film recorded the highest number of viewers on the first day of its release, 682,845. After this, it has added up more numbers of viewers day by day. 704,956(July 31), 866,374(Aug 1), and 1,228,667(Aug 2).

  

‘The Battle of Myeongnyang’ is aimed to reach 4 million viewers on the weekends. It is expected that this would be possible considering the film has gathered average 75 thousand viewers during week days. The movie has gone viral, having 73 percent of presale market share, 55 thousand reserved tickets, and rating of 9 from major portal sites, which makes it possible to long run.       


‘The Battle of Myeongnyang’ depicts the greatest sea battle in the century which defeats Japanese 300 vessels only with 12 sea vessels in 1597 during Japanese invasion era.   


The film is the very first one which depicts the battle of Myeongnyang, which is also well known over the world. The screen captures scenes that have never been observed in previous Korean film which are realistic battle scene and spectacle actions.    


The best part of the movie is to see Choi Min Sik’s acting. He played Lee Sun Sin in the film. ‘Taking over Lee Sun Sin’ as quoted from the director Kim Han Min, Choi Min Sik showed colorful finest acting from facial expressions of Lee Sun Sin to realistic actions using sword and arrow. 

    

Furthermore, Ryu Seung Ryong, Jo Jin Woong, Kim Myung Gon, Jin Goo, and other character actors created synergy to the film. The film has been bringing sensations to Korea with solid story that touches hearts of every generation.
